Dear CEO: Letters to the C-Suite

Last May, Roger Friedensen and I were sitting on the porch of the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C. talking about how nice it would be to write a book together.

At the time I told him I had an idea and to let me get some things organized and get back to him.

Well, it was nearly a year in the making and the book includes more than the two of us – 32 people, in fact. But it’s here! It’s finally here!

Dear CEO: Letters to the C-Suite from Experts on Vision, Culture, Community, and Integration” is a book of one-page letters from experts on marketing, communication, customer experience, and business coaching.

It is written with the c-suite leaders in mind so, if that’s not you, perhaps you can buy it as a gift. Or maybe you’d like to read it so you can prepare yourself for a career promotion.

If that is you, we think you’ll find quite a bit of valuable information that will help you think beyond your area of expertise and push your team past their limits.

The authors include:

  1. Gini Dietrich
  2. Danny Brown
  3. Scott Smith
  4. Laura Scholz
  5. Roger Friedensen
  6. Nat Slavin
  7. Stephanie Krol
  8. Andy Donovan
  9. Abbie Fink
  10. Nancy Lyons
  11. Elizabeth Sosnow
  12. Nancy Myrland
  13. Ben Wheatley
  14. Shonali Burke
  15. Anna Barcelos
  16. Jan Beery
  17. Marijean Jaggers
  18. Mark Schaefer
  19. Jon Buscall
  20. Indra Gardiner
  21. Carol Roth
  22. Martin Waxman
  23. Lisa Gerber
  24. Beth Harte
  25. Bob Reed
  26. Mark McNeely
  27. Tom Garrity
  28. Kellye Crane
  29. Justin Goldsborough
  30. Heather Whaling
  31. Maureen Blandford
  32. Sharon Cain

The book is $40, but each of the authors also are doing some giveaways and contests. So if you want the book, I mean really want it, get in the good graces with one (or all) of them! You can follow #DearCEO on Twitter for more information.

Or just go to the marketplace (yep, up there in the upper right-hand corner of Spin Sucks) and buy it there.

I can say this because I only wrote the introduction letter: I’m very pleased with how it turned out. The advice is solid, the writing is great, and the ideas are fantastic. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Gini, really appreciate all you did to bring us all together. Such an important topic, considering we all know how much follow the leader is played in corporate America. A conversation that needs to continue and I hope more CEOs will jump into the mix and begin to understand the effect they have on their organizations' cultures. Cheers for all you do!

JGoldsborough Baby steps, huh? When I spoke to a CEO group earlier this week, 99 percent of the audience thought I was off my rocker. By the time I left, I had them excited and enthused to begin thinking about their businesses differently. So one book, one speaking engagement, one blog post at a time...we'll get there!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you bringing me in on this, Gini. When you sent it to me, I immediately read through it (yea, I'm a fast reader :p) and was so impressed not just at the lineup of authors, but at what they wrote. Many many thanks again and I will do my utmost to help you get it out there.

dino_dogan 159 pts

Congrats Gini...great list of people too...Will there be a DearCEO tribe?

ginidietrich 5360 pts

dino_dogan I think there are too many people for a tribe!

dino_dogan 159 pts

ginidietrich hehe...I think you will be pleasantly surprised as to what happens when you reach your "limit". Thats all Im gonna say about that :-)

ginidietrich 5360 pts

dino_dogan Is that your nice way to telling me to get my shit together already?

dino_dogan 159 pts

ginidietrich lol...yup...get your shit together already, Dietrich. :-) Piece of inside info..lets hope nobody listens :-)

We expect that in few months typical tribe size will be 30-200. I'm already testing the limits of the system with Anubis (16 members and growing)..so your Dear CEO tribe could be the first to reach that number. And what a perfect way to do it since all you guys have already pre-vetted each other.

Just sayin :-)

ginidietrich 5360 pts

dino_dogan Alright, alright. I'm getting my shit together. Just sent six invites for The Blacklion Equipe. So how do I add a tribe that allows me to invite more than six people?

dino_dogan 159 pts

ginidietrich Once your tribe reaches 7 members, check your invites section. There you will find everything you need to know :-)

Now why can't the Counselors Academy be at the Grove Park this year? It's just a hop away from me! I jumped into PRSA and my role with my biz a bit too late for that one...still working out logistics for Vegas, but I'm hopeful!

Would love to check out this book. The authors alone are enough to sell me on it!
