A Little Break from PR and Marketing
It’s Facebook question of the week time (clap, clap, clap)!
Except.
I didn’t record a video.
I’m not really sure what happened. Typically I get up long before the sun comes up. This morning, however, Mr. D’s alarm went off at 5:45 and it woke me from the dead.
It means I was a little more than an hour behind.
Which equates to no video. Well, no video from me.
Instead I thought I’d share a video with you that had me laughing so hard, I was crying.
I was on the El, headed to the Loop to have drinks with Danny Brown and some of our social media friends, while I watched this. I was laughing out loud.
Sitting by myself, earphones in, on the train.
Laughing. Out. Loud.
Let’s be real. Ellen, by herself, is hilarious. When you add in Kristin Bell and a sloth, downright gut belly laughing ensues.
I thought it was worth having its own blog post vs. being one of five in Gin and Topics tomorrow.
I hope you find it as hilarious as I did.
If you can’t see it in your Reader or email, click here. Trust me. You want to watch this.
Oh! And go stop by our Facebook page and leave us a question on the wall. That way I’ll feel guilty if I skip the video again.

@Tinu LOL! I hope you had a good weekend!

I so didn't think I was gonna laugh. Especially when I first started watching it. But when she got up out of bed and was positively joyful about the slot coming to her party, it was hysterical. Reminded me of when my kids were little and had the same sort of reaction. They were about 4 years old at the time.
@HeidiMassey Yeah, for some reason I can't see your son having that same kind of reaction anymore. Hilarious!

I LOVE this video. And then, one of my Debbie Downer friends told me to read this: http://laineygossip.com/Articles/Details/22548/Kristen-Bell-sloth-love-on-Ellen. Not that Lainey is a credible source, BUT I wish I wouldn't have read her post...because Kristen's video is now a little less funny :/.

@Katie Gutwein Of course it was produced and pre-planned, you goof. Do you also think the Iron Chefs find out their secret ingredient during the taping and really only have one hour to produce four meals? It's still hilarious because she allowed her home video to be shown on Ellen. That's takes some serious huevos, as @lisa gerber would say.

@ginidietrich@Katie Gutwein@lisa gerber LOL. Noooo, the way I read Lainey's take on it was that the WHOLE thing was produced....like, even the "home" video.

@Katie Gutwein Funny, I didn't read it that way at all.

Dammit I'm sitting here crying with laughter. Ellen + Kristen Bell + Sloth = perfect storm of comedy. Seriously, though, people who aren't afraid to show their "kid-side" are the best. Remember when that director won the Oscar for Life is Beautiful and ran across the tops of the chairs? We all need to tap into that. Thanks for sharing this.
@rosemaryoneill Funny, right?! We do all need to tap into that. People are much too serious.

I bet when people meet @bdorman264 or @deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis or @jasonkonopinski for the first time they react in the same way. Almost like being tasered but in an uber gleeful kind of way.
@HowieG@bdorman264@deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis@jasonkonopinski Um, no. I've met them all and I did not cry uncontrollably.

@ginidietrich@HowieG@deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis@jasonkonopinski What? I was a cute sloth too..............
@John_Trader1 Hedgehog for me. Sloths are cute but I always think of Ice Age. This makes me think of John Leguizamo and then the hedgehog wins. :)
@Maranda@John_Trader1 I say koala.

That's the best thing I've seen this morning. Thank you.
p.s. How do you get out of bed before 5 a.m.? That's impressive.
@bradmarley It's when I do all my work...before the day begins. Otherwise I'd never get anything done.

@ginidietrich Hah, yeah I saw that the other day through @theellenshow on Facebook. Are you a slothhead?
@ginidietrich Amusing how it takes @theellenshow for you to love @imkristenbell more than however you loved her before!
@suddenlyjamie She's most well-known for Veronica Mars (amazing teen detective show, SOOOO good.)
@suddenlyjamie I think if you liked Buffy/Angel you would probably like Veronica Mars.
@adamjury Sounds like fun. I'm a "Bones" fan myself. :) (And used to be a Buffy/Angel addict)
@ginidietrich THANK YOU for the clip of Kristen Bell on Ellen. I almost started crying I laughing so hard. :) Perfect!
@ginidietrich That sloth video WAS too funny. I guess we're all a little crazy in our own way...and I love when we get to show it. ;)
@ginidietrich Me, too. I love when people are willing to share their humanity - even if it means looking stupid or ugly or weird.
@ginidietrich Pretty incredible. Got a good laugh earlier in the week. Hi by the way:-)
I shared this a few days ago because it absolutely made my day. I was practically crying I was laughing so hard -- and because her reactions are so darn cute!
@KenzDawn I loved how she said her emotional scale is between three and seven. So funny!

@deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis Seriously. I saw it posted a few times and then it was on your wall so I thought, "OK OK. I'll watch it."
@ginidietrich@deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis what wall? Are you using binoculars to peak into Sean's office?
@HowieG@deleted_91832_Sean McGinnis Yes, I watch Sean at night. Don't tell his wife.

I LOVED this video!! I was cracking up at work when i watched it...my cube mates definitely think I'm crazy with my random laughing outbursts. Kristen Bell is adorable, and I especially loved the end where she says "He's coming for the party?!"
