#FollowFriday: Dallas Kincaid

By: Gini Dietrich | April 20, 2012 |

I have this friend. Some of you may know him. He’s a trouble causer, pot stirrer, and menacing force of nature.

But I love him…and many of you do, too (particularly if we’re friends on Facebook).

For those of you who don’t know him, allow me to introduce you to Dallas Kincaid.

Dallas is the founder of Xecunet, a company that provides Internet services to businesses. I’m very jealous of him because he’s managed to build a company that doesn’t require him to go to the office every day. I still haven’t figured out how he does that, but he does…and he does it well.

But that’s not why I love him. I love him because he really does cause trouble. A LOT of trouble.

One of my favorite things he does is he’ll randomly announce, on Facebook, that it’s his birthday and he’s disappointed no one has said anything. It’s HILARIOUS to watch his friends stumble all over themselves to wish him a happy birthday, only to learn he’s just screwing with them. He does this no less than four times every year, but it still works.

Most recently, he began what I’ll call a “Dallas was found in contempt of court” campaign. It began with an update that said he refused to do something in court. Then he followed it up with being found in contempt. Then he followed it up with a countdown to when he would spend a week in jail.

Now, if you know Dallas well (or even if you don’t know him well, but pay attention to his Facebook stream), you’ll know this is all made up. And yet, his friends were commenting, texting, emailing, and calling to see what he did. It’s pure awesomeness.

He harasses me non-stop on my Facebook wall, which has caused many, many of my offline friends have friended him on Facebook. Just so they can get more of The Dallas.

He’s a smart butt (as my mom would call him), but he’s very, very funny.

You can check him out on Twitter, his blog, and maybe (if you’re really nice) he’ll accept you as a Facebook friend.

        • ginidietrich

           @jasonkonopinski Really six days.

        • @ginidietrich Damn you and your logic.

        • DallasK

          @jasonkonopinski @ginidietrich Math, it’s your friend.

  • jennimacdonald

     @ginidietrich is this the Dallas that I met about a year ago and found out he used to live in Maine and worked on a radio station in Augusta? dallaskincaid is that you??? Sorry if my memory fails me.

    • ginidietrich

       @jennimacdonald  Yes, that one!

    • DallasK

       @jennimacdonald @ginidietrich dallaskincaid Yes, I suppose I am that one..unless I owe you money or you are trying to collect child support then it is someone else.

      • jennimacdonald

         @DallasK @ginidietrich dallaskincaid I just LOL’d. Thanks for the laugh, you don’t owe me money or child support. Just wanted to confirm it was you who used to be on 92 Moose. : )

        • @jennimacdonald @DallasK @ginidietrich dallaskincaid If you worked in radio, we need to swap war stories.

        • DallasK

          @KenMueller @jennimacdonald @ginidietrich @dallaskincaid

        • DallasK

          @KenMueller @jennimacdonald @ginidietrich @dallaskincaid I spent a good 10 years in radio and tv. I still do some news/talk but mostly for fun.

  • DallasK

    I just want everyone to know that there is a very rigorous Facebook friending process for me. It involves committees, a talent competition, and a bathing suit competition.

  • Gertie, have you reached the bottom of the follow barrel?

    • DallasK

       @faybiz That hurts…

      • @DallasK you know you love it

    • ginidietrich

       @faybiz I clearly have hit the bottom.

      • DallasK

         @ginidietrich @faybiz All those people you saw on the way up you have to see on the way down.

  • I guess I’ll have to friend him… he lives in one of my favorite states.

    • ginidietrich

       @BobReed I hope he accepts your request. You might have to model a bathing suit first. Or maybe that was just me?

      • DallasK

         @ginidietrich @BobReed So far Gini you’re the only person to fall for the “you have to put on a bathing suit for me to friend you” line.

        • @DallasK @ginidietrich I had no fear. I’ve got the legs for it. The abs? Uh, not so much.

        •  @DallasK Does that work?

        • @DallasK do you still have the photos @ginidietrich sent you I bet they are worth bank at TMZ.

  • I love me some Dallas on Facebook. That is all.

    • ginidietrich

       @KenMueller Great.

      • @ginidietrich Oh, I like you too, so get over it.

        • @KenMueller @ginidietrich does he offer any deals or specials? i only connect with brands on facebook for deals and specials.

  • He harasses me non-stop
    I am sensing a common theme here. 😉

    • ginidietrich

       @TheJackB As you well know, I have four brothers. So this whole being harassed thing is comfortable for me. Just like teasing girls is comfortable for you.

  • How in the hell is it possible that we were not friends on facebook and I was not following him on Twitter? Inconceivable!

    • @Sean McGinnis I discovered the same this morning!

    • @Sean McGinnis I love that word! Me too! How is that possible? Is it possible? Or…do we have the same poor taste?

      • ginidietrich

         @NancyD68 @Sean McGinnis @jasonkonopinski You know what would be funny? If he doesn’t accept any of your friend requests.

        • @ginidietrich @NancyD68 @Sean McGinnis @jasonkonopinski well @DallasK is really @KenMueller ‘s make believe friend. he runs all his feeds. Seems joke is on us.

  • So glad I ditched Facebook. Now if only he was on the Twitter it would be cool. Oh wait he is. I will check out his fed and see how funny he is.
     @DallasK ‘Today is find a cute puppy and steal it from a loving home day. Then wait till the ‘Lost Posters’ up and return for reward’
     @DallasK ‘PR/Marketing is such a lame line of work. Now working at Hooters? That is f-n cool’
     @DallasK ‘Enjoying my 5th bloody mary before 9am because I don’t have to go to an office like @ginidietrich does’
    I love him already @ginidietrich
