#FollowFriday: For Bloggers, By Bloggers
Well, this isn’t a #FollowFriday for a particular person; rather a site that is written for bloggers by bloggers.
The brain child of Danny Brown and contributed to by Joey Strawn, Frank Dicksinson, Aaron Lee, and Judy Dunn, For Bloggers, By Bloggers is chock full of tips for everyone interested in blogging to the most sophisticated blogger.
Broken into eight different areas – design, tips, topics, social bookmarking, social networking, theme review, videos, and WordPress – you can get information on just about everything you need. I say just about everything because I’d love to see a robust section on organic search, but that’s because it’s something I need to do more efficiently, not because I think it’s a gaping hole. Come on, guys! Don’t you know this is all about me?!
One thing I love that they’ve recently added is weekly topic ideas for free. In some places, you’d have to pay for those ideas, but For Bloggers, By Bloggers gives them to you with a smile and a “have at it” attitude.
Don’t know what to write about or how often you should write?
Don’t like to write, but really would like to better understand vlogging?
Keep hearing about using social bookmarks, but have no idea what they are or how to use them?
Already have a blog, but don’t get any comments on it?
Reached exhaustion and need a pep talk?
Get my drift? It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or if you have a blog with a robust community. This #FollowFriday is for you. Because, well, it’s written by people who do this every day and are able to share their lessons, mistakes, and successes.
Check out Danny, Joey, Frank, Aaron, and Judy…and their site that is maintained with you in mind.
I love that there are nearly 70 comments on this...and it's all of the BBFB team.
ginidietrich Pish posh.
DannyBrown Ah dang! I didn't get a "pish posh" out of you last weekend! Dammit.
yowsa - I'm the "sin" ner of the group (2nd paragraph, first sentence :)~
FBBB is a cool place - thanks for featuring us Gini!!
FrankDickinson LMAO!! I'm totally keeping the spelling of your name that way. HAHAHAHA!!
ginidietrich LOL - I thought you'd enjoy that!
FrankDickinson It's kind of fun to say out loud - Dick Sin Son.
Woot! thanks for sharing FBBB Gini!! So happy to be part of it and be part of an awesome team! Will we see you there anytime soon? *winks*
AskAaronLee Uh...there is no room for the masterful Gini Dietrich at FBBB!
Thanks Gini. I went to visit For B by B and I was shocked.
For one he gives away FREE blog topics, I mean that is just plain cruel when you know some people out there are trying to put food on the table by selling them. I believe the going rate is 20c per topic.
Second, there I dont see a weekly Post listing all the posts people wrote with the blog topics that could have been sold.
You are right Gini, I went there, found terrific value for free. It is crazy. ;)
John Falchetto LOL!! Crazy, huh?! FREE!
John Falchetto I hear it's run by a Scotsman, which make the free thing even more confusing. They're tighter than the Irish! ;-)
I am totally offended that I don't get to be part of the 'crazies.' Don't you remember the old Apple ads? ("Here's to the 'crazies' ") : )
JudyDunn LOL! Alright. Fine. You're crazy, too.
ginidietrich [Clears throat] [Clears throat again]
joey_strawn Oh Joey. YOU are definitely crazy!
ginidietrich Whew. I was starting to get nervous.
If I'd known writing this would have brought out all the crazies (except JudyDunn ), I would have chosen a different #FF!
ginidietrich JudyDunn Oh thank goodness, for a moment there I thought you were referring to me as well Muahahahah ;)
Griddy Uh...you are an original crazy!
ginidietrich Griddy I prefer the term coocoo, but mostly because I just watched a Coco Puffs commercial. I need to get out of this place before I forever become sucked into all of these conversations...
JamesDBurrell2 Great. Now that's stuck in my head.
ginidietrich Griddy No way :)
ginidietrich I may be coocoo for coco puffs, but I can't get enough of them there Frosted Flakes, They're Great... Tony the Tiger was a marketing genuis.
Is there going to be a section about non-bloggers by non-bloggers?
HowieSPM I think that's the Huffington Post? ;-)
DannyBrown HowieSPM Muwahahahaaa (use joker/scary like tone when saying this out loud please lol)
HowieSPM Who would we get to write that?!
ginidietrich HowieSPM Aren't you supposed to be on a plane to Siberia?
Griddy I don't go to Siberia until tonight.
I ran into that blog once, loved an article and put it in one of my round ups. I forgot to bookmark it and had the luck of Ingrid Griddy recommending it to me. So I came back and never left. Lol.
It is probably one of my favorite blogs at the moment. But it is so easy to find great blogs with Ingrid on your team.
Great recommendation Gini and assuming some of the comments here are accurate, I must say your dog draws great :) Wish my puppy could do that!
Brankica Gini's dog is awesome. Maybe he should teahc Gini how to use Skype... ;-)
Thanks for the praise, Brankica, and really glad you're part of the community over there! :)
Brankica I guess Griddy hasn't taught you, yet, that DannyBrown lies?
ginidietrich Brankica DannyBrown Wait...who's Danny Brown again? (I'm stealing Howie's little trick thing here - I told you - PLIAGARISM all the way! lol)
Griddy ginidietrich DannyBrown Not sure if we are talking about the same Danny. The one I am referring to never lies :P
By the way, what are the chances of borrowing your dog, Gini, to teach mine only to use Skype and not type all over my posts (yes, she actually does that, so typos are never mine).
Brankica Griddy ginidietrich I have my moments. Usually when complimenting Gini... ;-)
Well I for one - couldn't agree more with you on this choice of #FF Gini :). I'm an avid reader of For Bloggers, By Bloggers and I think the contributors just rock!
There's always some highly entertaining and helpful blog posts on there - but then again - with writers like Joey, Judy, Aaron, Frank and Danny - I'd expect nothing less!
And Kudos on the little image my dear Aunt ;).
Cheers
Griddy The check is in the mail, miss. ;-)
DannyBrown Ummm...do yo mind sending it via FedEX please - the weekend is already here LOL ;)!
Griddy DannyBrown Western Union is much faster!!! Press for speed Ingrid!! :)
TheFriendlyBlogger DannyBrown I was gonna' suggest WU but the charges to Beirut are enough to make him gasp. I was feeling kind -but now - come to think of it - FedEX international charges are just as much fun lol ;).
Griddy TheFriendlyBlogger DannyBrown Ingrid is this where you get all your inspiration when you blog about bloggers who blog about blogging?
HowieSPM TheFriendlyBlogger DannyBrown You got me Howie - I usually go to For Bloggers, By Bloggers or to Gini's and Danny's site and copy exactly what they wrote and just change the author's name hahaha - You see - no need for inspiration - it's a simple matter of plagiarism and copy/pasting skills ;)
Griddy LOL!!
ginidietrich Griddy did you see Ingrid's announcement on her blog about her launching project Jack Bauer next week! I so suspected cut and paste but wasn't quite sure because she claimed she is already at version 3.0
Gini,
Love your drawing. : )
Thanks for spreading the word about For Bloggers, By Bloggers. It's a huge honor to be contributing to FBBB. What I really sense with this site is that we are here to help people. And Danny so models this all the time, that how could we not?
Have enjoyed getting to know you a little better on Twitter!
JudyDunn I think it was Gini's dog that drew it...
DannyBrown JudyDunn Jack Bauer IS quite talented!
ha! that's a funny comic. Actually, my usual goal for a blog is to develop a tribe. Whether it's big or small, it's ok. As long as there is a tribe of engaged participants. (per Seth Godin's book "Tribes")
mattmaldre Great goals, Matt - I think most bloggers would cite that as their aim. Sure, monetization, speaking gigs, client work and more are also goals. But you won't get any of these if you don't have folks sharing your stuff to start with. So a great tribe/community is key.
