#FollowFriday- Lubna Sadik

By Gini Dietrich

Most of you know Lubna Sadik as LSSocialEngage in the comments here. A wife, mom (to two boys), marketer, and blogger, Lubna hangs out in the Spin Sucks community and adds her sparkling commentary and brilliant wit nearly daily.

Just a little more than a year ago (last August), she took a big leap of faith, left her solid paying job, and ventured out on her own. She decided it was time to follow her passions and find work with organizations looking for help with social media marketing. We’ll let her tell you how it’s going in the comments here, but to all appearances, it looks like she made the right choice!

But there is something I really appreciate about Lubna. She doesn’t just blog about social media. Sure, you can find tips and tools on how to use the social networks on her blog, but she also writes about parenting, TV, food, reading, and more.

Just in the past week or two, we’ve learned about the morning trump card with her boys, why she bought Gwyneth Paltrow’s book (despite all the criticism), apple picking, and her new favorite show – Orange is the New Black.

The paragraph she uses to describe herself is this:

World travel, delicious food, blissful yoga and invigorating spin classes, a relaxing day at the spa, clothes, shoes and jewelry, fashion magazines, good books, chick flicks and well-written TV shows, a morning cup of strong coffee, an afternoon cup of  exotic tea and an evening glass of red wine, the warm ocean breeze and summer sangria, laughter and rants with close family and friends…these are a few of my favorite things.

Let’s see: World travel, delicious food, cycling, shoes, good books, red wine…no wonder I like her! We might be the same person!

Get to know her. You can find her on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest (!!!), LinkedIn, on her blog, and in the comments here.

P.S. Lubna, if you like Orange is the New Black, read the book. After you finish watching the first season, though. You’ll get angry if you read it while you’re watching.

Welcome to the world of YOYO...i.e..."you're on your own."

Oh OK..I suppose there's room enough for another sparkling wit around here.

Although when Gini calls me a wit she always accidentally adds a "T."Edit (in 6 minutes)

@ginidietrich I am so so curious about the Orange Is The New Black book now and because you said so I will wait until I am finished Season 1. Although I do want to pick it up right now. So will I get angry still if I read it after , little less angry or a lot less angry. Just mentally preparing myself :)

Wonderful to meet you, Lubna!  I love that you tie so much of your personal side into your blog. It is very "social!"

Can you post your LinkedIn connection information? The link above won't go through for me.

Nice to meet you Lubna and congrats on getting freshly spun. Rad that you  made the jump to doing your own thing, that takes some grit.

Really like the Spin Sucks #FF 'philosophy' - one of the few #FF with any real meaning, and always worthwhile. Lubna, now following! Enjoy the weekend all.

Wow! The #FF. Thank you Gini and the Spin Sucks gang! Talk about making my Friday (and entire weekend). Truth be told, I had hoped for a #FF one day in the future but wasn't expecting it so soon. (Wait! Did I use the comma correctly in that sentence) Thank you! Am off to my Friday morning Spin class but can't wait to read and respond to all the comments.  And yes quitting my job was the best thing I did and lovin' the new career path! I'll be back

So I sang here descriptive bio to

And it was EERILY perfect. Seems ms Julie Andrews knew one day @LSSocialEngagewould be getting this #FF. Since I am friends with some of the Von Trapps I am going to see if there is any possible IP/Trademark infringement because I think Lubna should totally sue for a percentage of royalties from the music, the film, the play and all earnings Julie Andrews had during her life. Fair is Fair.

I am also seeing if maybe she can win a slice of the Von Trapp Cheese business, the VT Family Lodge, the Trapp Brewery, and their Greenhouses. I of course charge my usual 3% fee of the top of any awards. I just hope our friends don't hate me for this but fair is fair!

@jolynndeal Thank you. Wonderful to meet you as well. I find that's the only way to keep it real, human, honest and passionate - to get personal (p.s. Gini and Danny Brown taught me all about keeping it real etc.  at the amazing Social Capital Conference in Ottawa earlier this year as well :))Here is the link , hope it works http://www.linkedin.com/in/lssocialengage
