#FollowFriday: Marcus Sheridan
You know how you discover someone online and you feel like you’ve known them your entire life? That’s how I feel with Marcus Sheridan aka The Sales Lion (or Mufasa as Ingrid Abboud calls him).
Part lion, part swimming pool business owner, part sales and marketing genius, Marcus is the real deal. One of my biggest issues with some bloggers and journalists is they espouse “wisdom,” but they’ve never done it. Marcus isn’t one of those guys. If he’s recommending it, it’s because he’s tried it and he has mistakes and successes to teach you.
When I first came across Marcus, I was fascinated by the fact that he works out every night…at 9 p.m. (or later). I remember thinking, “Who can work out that late?” And then I discovered he’s not up at 5 a.m. like me. He sleeps until 7:30 most mornings. So, as Jack Bauer and I walk in the dark every morning, I curse Marcus’s name. But then, I have my workout finished long before he even gets up so I guess we’re even.
What you see is what you get with Marcus. He has pictures of his family on his blog. He doesn’t hide anything from anyone. And, if you have a question he can’t answer, he’ll tell you so, but help you find it.
He blogs only three times a week because, from his perspective, that gives everyone some time to get over there, really read what he has to say, and engage with his community. And I have to hand it to him, it really works. He’s living proof of my philosophy that it doesn’t matter how often you blog, as long as it’s consistent and people know when to expect it.
If you’re a bit leery, I challenge you to read, “10 ways to get massive comments on your blog,” which garnered him (as of this writing) 133 comments. If you still think he isn’t going to be helpful to you, well phooey on you!
Take a girl’s advice! Follow him on Twitter, subscribe to and read his blog, and get to know him. I can promise you, without a shadow of a doubt, YWRI.

Costa Rica is a bit behind in leveraging the social web to bring attention and conversation to the forefront. I had a lot of dealings with the government as I started a large bio-fuels initiative in the country.
Could be lots of fun and very productive : )

Well, I've just about "liked" every comment here! Although there really should be a "Love" or "Kicks Ass" box but what the heck.
The fact that (hate that phrase but oh well) you both wake up when I go to bed just boggles my mind lol. Gin - you're like on an army schedule and Mufasa - you're like training to be Hercules ;).
There is so much I could say about this #FF but I think you all know what I think of Mufasa so I will spare you the eBook.
He rocks, he's caring, he's smart as hell, he's a great business man and pool guy, he's a top notch blogger - in MY A-list for sure, he's friendly, he knows social, he's open and genuine, he's supportive, he's ambitious, he goes out of his way to help you if you need it, he's every other good thing I can think of! Need I say more?!

Cheers to the Lion! I just recently 'met' Marcus online and agree 100% with your FollowFriday recommendation. Love the pics of his family on his blog and his generosity with all that he's learned along the way. Very authentic and you know I love that!

The thing with Marcus aka Mufasa/Aka saleslion aka the best pool businessman is that he much much more than a talented blogger.
@Marcus_Sheridan shares his knowledge of blogging and inbound marketing more than most people I know out there. He is a naturally gifted writer and brings zero ego into the social media arena.
One of my A-lister blogger for sure. I am right with you @ginidietrich @Marcus_Sheridan doesn't pretend when he talks about personal experience in blogging. He's the real deal.

Applause, not a wimpy golf clap either, real one! Marcus is one of my faves because he adopts a 'less is more' approach to his blogging schedule but then, his posts are longer, smarter, and chock full of anecdotes and experiences that can help any business owner learn and grow. This LSU Tiger is so glad I've got a Lion in my community, great pick Gini.
