For the first time ever I received a Klout perk I actually wanted and used.
Last night, the Cadillac ATS (well, not the car, but its marketing department) hosted an advanced screening of Argo.
For those of you who don’t know, Argo is based on the declassified information about the Iranian hostage crisis in the late 70s and early 80s.
It was a highly intense, emotionally-ridden film everyone needs to see. It’s not a, “Boy it’d be nice to see that movie.” It’s a must…even if you wait for it to come to Redbox or Netflix or iTunes or Amazon or however the heck you rent movies these days.
Even though you already know what happens, they had you on the edge of your seat the entire flick. It was very, very good.
And this week’s Gin and Topics?
I am so excited about it! It might not be the very best one yet, but it’s pretty darn close.
Seriously, I nearly had an asthma attack from laughing. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.
5. Worst Movie Death Scene Ever. This one won’t make you have an asthma attack, but you will watch wondering how this made it to a movie theater. It’s kind of awesome. I wish more death scenes were like this one. Talk about overly dramatic.
4. Best Deponent of All Time. Justin Brackett and I are incredulous about this one! It’s L’il Wayne being deposed during a lawsuit he has against Quincy Jones III about a documentary creating around his life. There are several video clips, but I think this one is the best. I answers “I don’t recall” to every question and then, when he interrupts the attorney asking the questions, claims it’s his psychic abilities giving him the question.
3. Canadian Dance Moves. OMG! I love my Canadian friends and this makes my commitment to you even larger. Next time I am in Toronto, we are having a dance party so you can teach me these sweeeeet moves. Heck! I can probably practice and be ready when I get there! (Thanks to Christina Pappas for helping me keep ahead of Canadian trends.)
2. Baby Otters Learn to Swim. To save your tear ducts from any more crying from laughing (because number one in this list isn’t going to save you), Deb Dobson and I present you the cutest otters in the whole wide world learning how to swim. I love how they keep trying to get out of the pool. They have no interest in getting in the water!
1. Funniest Clip I’ve Ever Seen. Hands down, this is THE funniest thing I have ever seen. Yes, it has beat Tight Pants, which is a bit bittersweet because you know I love that video. But this? It’s Richard Simmons on Whose Line is it Anyway and, let me just tell you, the jet ski scene will have you rolling on the floor. My sister-in-law sent this to me so you can blame her for the six minutes of your life you’re about to lose. So. Funny.

Who wouldn’t want an otter after watching those cute little pups! Thanks so much for all the videos; I can’t wait to show some of my co-workers at DISH, who could use a good laugh, during lunch tomorrow. Also, thanks for the Argo suggestion. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it but I rarely EVER find time to go to the theater. I’ve added it to my Blockbuster @Home queue since I can add movies that are still in theaters, and when they finally make it to DVD, I’m one of the first to get it. Thanks again!
Thanks! I’ve added it to my queue as well. Blockbuster @Home rated it four and a half stars out of five so now I’m really looking forward to watching it!
My daughter and her friend (teenagers) totally loved the otter video. Daughter is now begging for an otter of her own. Then girls left and I about woke the dead laughing at Richard Simmons! I'm surprised the girls didn't come back in here and holler at me! ha!
Just had to shoo the kids out of the room in the nick of time...tears rolling down my face...yes this is a worthy replacement for "Tight Pants." Also, don't know why, but I'm mentally picturing Mitch Joel doing the Canadian dance moves...
I can't believe I had to wait this long to watch these! It was worth it though. Oh. My. God. The jet ski was *hysterical* to watch. My dogs are staring at me now because I was laughing so hard. They're all like "What's wrong Mommy?" LOL On a separate note, I am so so so glad to hear you liked Argo. I've been really excited about that one (I'm kind of a movie nut) so it's good to know it's as good as it looks.
@TaraGeissinger Right?!? I was DYING! My SIL said, "This is so inappropriate, but..." And when he said, "I've never once had a jet ski lesson," I lost it! So freaking funny!!
Argo was REALLY good. I think I was holding my breath for half of it. After you see it, let's chat!
@TaraGeissinger@ginidietrich Ben is quickly turning into one of the better director of his generation. The Town was quite good as well. Excited to see Argo.
Firstly, as a Canadian, I do the windsheild scraper move brilliantly! Secondly...that.was.the.funniest.clip.ever. I'm in my kitchen...doubled over...DYING OF LAUGHTER. And the Canadian content in that show was provided none other than by Colin Mochrie (in the red shirt). Gini...you have simply outdone yourself with this Gin and Topics. Now you know why it's one of your most popular features.
OMG. OMG. Did they actually show that on the air????? Also, Argo was so good. I'm dying to talk to others about it but don't want to "give anything away" even though we know how it ends. So, so good!!!
@jeanniecw Oh they showed it on the air. Richard Simmons is priceless. I love his facial expressions as the comedians are trying to hold it together and Drew Carey is falling apart. It's so freaking funny!
And I'm with you on Argo. I guess we can talk to each other until everyone else has seen it.
Thank you for the Friday laughs, lady! I needed it this week. I miss Whose Line Is It Anyway, Wayne Brady is sooo wasted on Let's Make a Deal. My fave movie death scene of all time: Paul Reubens' (yes, Pee Wee Herman) very long, very dramatic kak (sp?) in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie, not the TV show).
@ginidietrich And the smoke after...!? HAHAHA! I must sy though, that Canadian Dances one had me cracking up also - so good - my fave "Carry The 2/4" - LOL
@yvettepistorio I know, watching Drew Carey DIE is the best. Reminds me of the classic Carol Burnett shows when they would all lose it onstage in front of the audience!!
