Hi Nancy:

You are absolutely right...there are lots of folks who have either the strategic piece or the analytical piece. I think that's part of what was making this search so hard.

My prediction for the future? Emerging marketers who aim to develop experience on both "sides" will have a tremendous advantage. Analytics aren't going away. I wonder what kinds of resumes will cross my desk or Gini's in a few years?

Whatever the outcome, smart folks like you will always be a part of the picture :)

Good post Elizabeth. It's also important to note that not all brilliant marketing and PR strategists (those lines are blurring)come with the same brilliant ability for analysis and measurement. I think that's okay, and not just because I'm really good at marketing strategy as a whole, but work with others on the measurement pieces, but because we need to make sure we attract people who are really good nuts-and-bolts strategic thinkers who understand how to dissect the entire marketing and PR puzzle and help it make sense. That's not always the analytical type.

Just another perspective to add to your always-wise and welcome words.
