The Spin Sucks #FollowFriday Recommendations for 2013By Gini Dietrich

It’s a week of fun-filled blog posts!

We started the week with the summer fiction reading list (I’m reading Light Between Oceans now and it’s pretty good), then Lindsay Bell-Wheeler announced the top 10 guest bloggers of the first half of the year.

Now we present the #FollowFriday recommendations for 2013, as of last Friday.

If you are so inclined, we’ve also created a Feedly subscription to all of the blogs and a Twitter list so you can follow everyone’s feeds.

I hope my Canadian friends had a very happy Canada Day and my American friends had a very happy Fourth. Me? I’m off to the pool with my nieces to continue evening out my really bad cycling tan.

#FollowFriday Recommendations for 2013 (So Far)

  1. Starting the year out right, Amy Vernon (my wife) shows us what it’s like to really be the bacon queen.
  2. See how Sam Fiorella is getting by with co-authoring a book with Danny Brown.

  15. The mom of ultra-talented daughters and lover of theater, Liz Reusswig is a gem.
  16. A new addition to Visualy, Joe Cardillo created an infographic of beer vs. blogging…without being asked!
  17. In honor of her birthday, Aimee West was highlighted for her social media and web work at East Lansing Food Co-Op.
  18. A former client and all-around good guy, Brian Tudor has a love for all things comics.

What a bunch of weirdos.

I love 'em all

Hmmm...I was wondering why people were eyeing my mini-tupperware containers today....!

What is sad is how many on this list have now hit rock bottom. Some took up the bottle. Some lost all their fortunes that were quickly made after their Follow Friday only to be lost due to bad investments and scams. Others are in Betty Ford. The lucky few like @creativeoncallwent on to super stardom as back up singers for the Bieber and @LauraPetrolino who garnered fame by winning Survivor 29 and Dancing with the Stars in the same TV season! Then there was @biggreenpen and @wordninja  who wound up clashing over control of Metrocity after Megamind quit and ran off with a vegas showgirl.

It was a great first half. So many rose to the occasion. But will the cycle of ruined lives from winning such prestige continue in the second half? Will the next group have more focus and levity or will they too be sucked down the road to short lived fame only to wind Betty Ford....with me?

Thanks for including me in this august (er, July) group... and a double mention no less!.  This confirms your secret desire to sing with me as often as possible, I'm sure of it... (perhaps a Google+ Hangout trio with @biggreenpen?). BTW, if anybody hasn't seen the one and only music video featuring Gini, you won't want to miss it:

Still super honored to be included with such awesome people. Cheers, everybody!

@belllindsay I have to say, taking a two year old in the pool for the first time is kind of a blast!
