QR Codes: Effectiveness and Use

It’s Facebook question of the week time !

I’m coming to you from LA (again) today, but I recorded the video before I left, which is why you’ll recognize the background.

It’s a QR code day, with questions coming from both Deb Evans and Jon Buscall. Continue Reading »

Dear CEO: Letters to the C-Suite

Last May, Roger Friedensen and I were sitting on the porch of the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C. talking about how nice it would be to write a book together.

At the time I told him I had an idea and to let me get some things organized and get back to him.

Well, it was nearly a year in the making and the book includes more than the two of us – 32 people, in fact. But it’s here! It’s finally here! Continue Reading »

#FollowFriday: A Complete List

It’s Christmas Eve so I’m cheating. Rather than do a normal a #FollowFriday for today, I’m giving you a complete list of all of the blogs I’ve recommended since I began doing this in March. Wow! I’ve been doing this since March. You’re going to find Twitter handles hyperlinked to people’s names and their blog URLs hyperlinked to their blog names (or taglines – those darn Canadians don’t follow the rules!).

If I had more time, I’d pull these into Twitter and Google Reader lists to make this super easy on you, but alas! I’ve run out of time. Perhaps I’ll do that next week.

So here they are…the people (with Twitter handles) and their blogs (with links). Continue Reading »

Top Five Stories for Week Ending Sept. 10, 2010

Did this week feel like the longest in history…even though it was only four days? Man! Maybe it’s because I got sucked into making changes to the Arment Dietrich website last night (through the super amazing content management system Clockwork created for us) and I looked up and it was 9 p.m. I’d ask you to go check it out and tell me what you think, but it’s not finished yet. So hang on for a week or so! But perhaps it was long for all of you, too. More likely it was fitting five days’ worth of work into four.

But a short week doesn’t mean there wasn’t great content out there. Following are the top five stories for week ending Sept. 10, 2010. Continue Reading »

#FollowFriday: Jon Buscall

One of the things I love about Twitter is it truly flattens out the world. One example of the global reach it’s provided me is access to Jon Buscall, a communications professional in Sweden. And he is today’s #FollowFriday blog recommendation.

I subscribe to a zillion blogs, but Jon’s is one of the few I read daily (the others I save for “downtime” at airports or on planes). A fantastic mix of tips and tools, as well as very high-level strategy opinion, you’ll not only learn something, you’ll begin to really like the guy.  And, if you’re not sure about your own content – what to write, how to write it, what to say – he gives phenomenal advice in getting started, writing headlines, using tools other than just blogging.

So go check out Jontus Media now, subscribe, read, comment, and if you’re really lucky, he’ll tell you who the pup is on his home page.

Using Email Marketing

Communication and marketing via the web are quickly becoming one of the more powerful tools in business today. Because of its global reach, its efficiencies, and the ability to make it work for you while you sleep, the Internet is more effective than any of the traditional tools we’re accustomed to using.

Enter the enewsletter, or email marketing. According to The State of Retailing Online 2009: Marketing report, 89 percent of retailers cited email as the most successful marketing tactic overall. The benefits of email are just as great for B2B businesses. According to Shop.org, email marketing delivers sales at an average cost per order of less than $7, as compared to $71.89 for banner ads, $26.75 for paid search, and $17.47 for affiliate programs.
