Gin and TopicsBy Jason Konopinski

This is the part of summer that has me looking forward to cool nights, bonfires, and hoodies.

We hit triple digits here in central Pennsylvania last week — with a heat index of 108°.

It’s been downright soupy out there.

The good news is I have a pretty rad cyclist’s tan, and the sweat gives me a nice shine. (Ed.’s note: EW!)

Anyhow, you don’t check in to hear me blather on. You want to laugh. You want to cry.

You want to roll your eyes at the insanity of people on the Interwebz. Right?

I can see why Gin and Topics is Gini Dietrich’s favorite post of the week to write. The moment of glory, the adoring fans, the ticker tape parade. I’ve been practicing my acceptance speech and flourish-y signature all week.

Okay, so I’m exaggerating a wee bit, but still, getting a chance to play video DJ for all the bits, bobs, and Internet tomfoolery we crazies send in each week was scads of fun.

This week’s entries come courtesy of Mr. D himself, Mattie Dietrich (who doesn’t have a web presence but still wants to see her name in lights), Lindsay Bell, Susan Cellura, and yours truly.

5. Catvertising. The Internet does like it’s cat videos, doesn’t it? John St, a creative collective/agency in Toronto, thinks that those fluffy felines are the next big thing in advertising. I think they might be onto something.

4. (I Wanna) Channing All Over Your Tatum. Jimmy Kimmel, Channing Tatum, and Jamie Foxx in a sultry R&B mix. I’m not sure there’s anything else I can say to prepare you for this. Just watch. It’s totally worth it. Oh, the double entendres. They’re just too delicious.

3. Dog sees her owner for the first time in six months. This might be the greatest video, well, ever. It’ll hit you right in the feels. A dog is reunited with her owner after he was overseas for six months. Who’s cutting onions in here?

2. Get Lucky, Sesame Street-Style. What more can I say? Daft Punk + Grover = win. My geeky little heart goes all pitter-pat.

1. Logo Design Gone Wrong

I’m a design geek. When logos make it out into the wild that are just filthy with innuendo and unintentionally hilarious graphics, I giggle like a loon. You will, too. Click here for logo design, done wrong.

Have a great weekend, gang!
