Gin and TopicsBy Gini  Dietrich

By the time you read this, I will be on my way home from the very last out-of-town keynote of the year.

Having spoken at Social Brand Forum in Iowa with the likes of DJ Waldow, Lee Odden, Jay Baer, Marcus Sheridan, Tim Hayden, and Laura Fitton, it was a great send-off to the year-end.

Now to focus on getting Spin Sucks edited and published, getting Laura Petrolino started, getting one more new person started (details forthcoming), and finalize our 2014 plan.

Lots of fun things remain for the year and I’m really looking forward to it for the first time in years.

And speaking of fun things, Gin and Topics is a good one this week!

5. Click Baby. This is a FANTASTIC commercial for Adobe Marketing Cloud. The point is, as marketers, we need to be better about the metrics we’re watching…and Encyclopedia Britannica is the scapegoat. I kind of love how creative companies are getting with their ads. This will totally make you laugh out loud.

4. An Impersonation of Owen Wilson as Loki. Man, oh man! Tom Hiddleston can impersonate Owen Wilson perfectly! During an interview, he’s asked to do that as if Wilson were playing Loki (from Thor fame). It’s downright brilliant…and hilarious!

3. Forty-Year-Old Tantrum. This guy’s six-year-old threw a temper tantrum for more than an hour (!!!) so he started lip-syncing to her wails. The best part about it is he knows exactly what she’s going to scream and for how long. Super impressive!

2.How to Braise a Lamb Shank…Mobster Edition. A mobster learns “Mickey” has stolen money from his strip club, but rather than torture him until he returns it, he cooks up a lovely lamb shank in exchange for the information. Another commercial done brilliantly. Note: There are swear words in here so not safe for work.

1. National Zoo Panda Gets First Vaccine. This might be the CUTEST THING I have ever seen! The eight-week-old panda has a vet checkup and receives a shot in the rear end. You can almost hear her saying, “OW! Leave me alone! Ow!”
