Gin and Topics

The shelves are eight feet high, packed tightly in no apparent order. The aisles between have stacks upon stacks of books of all sizes and descriptions.

In order to gain access to the heart of it all, you must ask permission, and directions. When I do so, she parts a few of the stacks and points me on the right path. I pick my way amongst the teetering tomes with a bag of fresh mini donuts (with cinnamon and powdered sugar, of course) and wander the rows, enjoying the smell.

That’s what summer is to me. It’s time to sit in the shade with my lazy hounds beside me, reading all those words I don’t have time for in the rushrushrush of the “busy” season.

My sticky flag highlighter pen at the ready, I embark upon a summer of hammock time with my novels.

I teased Gini Dietrich about her “summer” reading list, full of lots of death and darkness, but I headed right to the science fiction and fantasy corner to grab the next six things I will read.

I’ve had my nose firmly buried in Speaker for the Dead since then, but am emerging briefly to gather these fine videos for you.
