I have a friend (yes one) named Nancy Myrland. Nancy isn’t going to like it much when I say this, but she is the nicest person on the face of this earth. She’s so kind and generous that she makes you feel guilty just being with her. And she has this wit that comes out of nowhere, which makes it even more funny.

One of my favorite Nancy stories is that I was walking home last summer and there was a crazy lady  on State Street, in the middle of the Loop in Chicago, yelling at how the aliens were going to get us and we should all be saved now. I mean, she was yelling at the top of her lungs. So I put something witty about it as my status update on Facebook. And Nancy writes, “I was hoping no one saw me!” That was so funny to me because I had to compare the nicest person on the face of this earth to this crazy woman yelling about aliens and God. Hilarious.
