Favorite Social Media Tools

After Wednesday’s jeans blog post, I’m scared to write another one! Quite the controversy I caused, though it was a fantastic piece of market research. Of the comments we received, 38 agreed with me that jeans are not appropriate for speaking and 20 disagreed. If you missed it, you can find it here, but be prepared to spend some time reading.

But, in honor of the holiday weekend, I’m going to do something light and show you a video interview I did with Lisa Gerber and Justin Brackett while we hiked Mt. Mitchell in North Carolina last weekend.  I even filmed while hiking up the mountain…backwards!

The question, “What is your favorite social media tool and why?”

Quite nice post. I just stumbled upon your webpage and wanted to say that I have definitely enjoyed browsing your website posts. In any case Iu00e2u0080u0099ll be subscribing for your feed and I hope you write again soon!

Justin is "spot on" the new tweet deck is the strongest of the applications out there.

Well my favorite tool used to be BackType, which let you "collect" your comments on blogs across the net.. but alas, they've phased out that part of it. It's still a good tool.

So right now I'm probably have to say Twitter, with various clients like TweetDeck and Echofon, though I'm seeing the awesome potential of video and YouTube. And shout out to Jon, agree that a strong blog is still a great social media tool.

I think Twitter really is up there at the top for me. I agree with Jon, too--blogs can be social media, especially if the blogger emphasizes a social aspect to the community created on their blog. Many of my favorite blogs are more interesting for the continuous conversation they create than just the content in each post.

Can I be radical and say "my blog!". I still see blogs as social media. But then it would have to be Twitter.

Twitter is my favorite and all the tools that can be used with it: Tweetdeck, UberTwitter, etc When you first encouraged me to get involved I had no idea how engaged I would become with so many great individuals. I have developed business and personal relationships that go beyond anything I could have imagined!

PS Great video, blending work and fun!

Favorite tool right now is Hootsuite, because I personally think it offers the best user interface and feature set for managing multiple social media accounts (especially Twitter).

Favorite social media platform is LinkedIn - by far LinkedIn offers the most value for B2B marketing/networking in my opinion.

Thanks a lot for sharing Gini! Imagined if you (by mere accident of course) would have fallen backwards, while you filmed the vlog. Just another viral video online huh? :D

I must say that it was a surprise to hear "facebook", I thought Lisa was on her way to say Twitter, Stumble-upon or something else.

My favourite social media tool at the moment is twitter. Simply because it is so more active and interesting than facebook , right now, in my eyes. I'm still working hard with my "social media strategy" so it's going to take a few weeks for me to get started to 110% with this amazing tool.

Gini,

Tough one for me to answer so I'll give you 2...first Twitter has by far exceeded my expectations. When I first started using it, I wasn't sure the use I'd get out of it. But as a tool that allows for introductions, conversations and information sharing, it can't be beat. I've met some great people through the service (LIKE YOU) and have learned so much from the articles and blogs people share.

Facebook is also right at the top of the list for the very reason Lisa pointed out. I use it to connect with people that I already know and have developed a relationship with. I generally send out / accept the Facebook friend request after getting to know someone through Twitter. Facebook allows for friends to stay connected even though you haven't seen them in a while.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
