#FollowFriday: Adam Justice

By: Gini Dietrich | March 2, 2012 |

I realized last night that today is the first Friday of the month, which typically means it’s book review time.

But, um, well…I forgot. And I promised Erika Napoletano I would do a review of “The Power of Unpopular” the week it comes out (March 20) so we’ll substitute the March review then.

Sound good?

In that case, I’d like to introduce you to Adam Justice, otherwise known as etelligence.

Adam is, hands down, one of the smartest search and web developers I know. In fact, every time he writes a blog post for us here or content for Spin Sucks Pro, Lisa Gerber and I both say, “Dang! So smart!”

He writes for Yahoo! about technology, which is one of those beasts I tried to figure out a couple of years ago and never did. But he clearly has because he’s a featured writer for them.

He has a couple of websites and blogs (you can find him writing about social media at and about technology and the web at, but the main reason I’m featuring him today is because he just launched Social Media Sun and it’s something everyone should check out.

Never mind the fact the design is GORGEOUS (makes you want to hang out there all day long), it looks to be a really good site for everything surrounding social media.

From the site:

Social Media Sun knows social media. We understand privacy settings, marketing practices, stats and analytics, hash tags, meta tags and net lag. We know which button made the text on your screen too big, and we know how to write a blog post that will index in search. We don’t know everything, but we have a large network of friends who fill that gap with their experience and expertise. They’re here to help you too. So as you navigate the Internet under the banner of web 2.0 and social media, remember where to come. When it comes to social media, we’re everything under the sun.

Before you explore Social Media Sun, though, check out the New Here? blog post.

He has must reads for new visitors, he makes it easy to subscribe to the blog, and he even has a Facebook group dedicated to further discussion about the blog topics at hand.

So check him out. You’re sure to learn something. I know I do.

  • wow, thanks Gini! This was unexpected, but greatly appreciated. Everyone loved your contribution to the site, and I’m in your debt for the credibility you lent for the launch! Hopefully in a year or 2 from now we’ll be having the same initial guest bloggers as the first keynote speakers at an industry conference!

       @etelligence That would be awesome!!

      • @ginidietrich @etelligence Can I be the MC? I’ll even sing.

        • ginidietrich

@SociallyGenius  @etelligence Adam! He’s going to sing! Please say yes!

        •  @ginidietrich  @SociallyGenius  Definately Tony! You have to wear that nifty cape though!

  • Hi Adam ( @etelligence )  Nice to “meet” you here.  I always look forward to Fridays for @ginidietrich ‘s #Follow Friday recommendations because, she really knows what she is talking about when it comes to awesome people to “know”.  I will definitely check out Social Media Sun (love “we’re everything under the sun”…so great)
Psssst….don’t tell ginidietrich  but I’m kind of glad that she didn’t do a book review today…it’s bad enough that she’s so darn smart in general but then when she starts writing these reviews of books with big words and high falootin’ ideas…well, frankly, I’m a little intimidated …but that will be our little secret 😉

    •  @SocialMediaDDS    ginidietrich  Nice to meet you as well Claudia! I love the specialization you have going with Dentists, 70% of the design and consulting work I have done in the past 2 years has come from dentists, doctors, lawyers and real estate people. The professional service sector is a gold mine if you know where to dig.
I had thought up several “Sun” related puns over the last 3 weeks. The tagline on the site is “Rise and Shine with Us!” , and I threw around the idea of using the word eclipse for something. The best one that didn’t make it was a cartoon Sun I drew up that I named Copernicus, but he didn’t fit anywhere lol. But look on the BRIGHT side, the days are getting longer, and the Sun is shining stronger 😉

    • ginidietrich

@SocialMediaDDS  Puh-lease. You’re just as smart,  if not more, than me!

  • Adam you have a Super Hero Name. SociallyGenius is going to be VERY jealous. He might look like a Super Hero but you sound like one! So Gini says you know buttons. Do you specialize in metal? Ceramic? Wood? Vintage? In some of the antique shops in Vermont they have jars and jars of vintage buttons. I will gladly get you some if you like. Sadly vintage doesn’t have the social technology upgrades modern ones have.
Well if you learn Pins too you can become her personal Haberdasher. You do know Haberdashery is a lost art correct? And they rake in big bucks. You know Donald Trump has one on call?
And if you learn zippers you will be like Google and have everything you need to rule the world.
Grats on being highlighted. But until Gini pins you on her Super Hero Board you haven’t quite been fully honored 😉

    •  @HowieSPM  SociallyGenius  Wait….. @ginidietrich has a Super Hero Board???!!!?? Um…..

      • ginidietrich

@SocialMediaDDS  I have no such thing! @HowieSPM is causing trouble!

    •  @HowieSPM  SociallyGenius haha thanks Howie. That’s weird, I have heard that before (That my name sounds like a super hero), I’ll take it! I always thought, if I joined the army, I could be “Major Justice” , then I’d really need a cape!
I’m going to have to look in to this Haberdashery. I don’t know much about buttons, but Idid make one for the Social 100 app on the site! It looks like a gold medal, for #winning !

      • @etelligence @HowieSPM @SociallyGenius Major Justice!!!! LMAO!!!!

    • @HowieSPM You’re right, I am very jealous for two reasons. A) The Name… Adam Justice screams Marvel. So much so that I’m switching my name from Tony Bennett to the Green Blogger. B.) Gini broke our non-compete agreement for exclusive rights to be the only superhero commenter here. His cool name clearly violates that provision

      • ginidietrich

@SociallyGenius  @HowieSPM Not true, TB. He’s not in a cape.

    • ginidietrich

       @HowieSPM  You are crazy.

  • My name will NEVER be as cool as Adam’s 🙁 *kicks sand*

    • ginidietrich

@RedheadWriting You have a pretty good name all on your own!

    •  @RedheadWriting what, Erika with a K is crazy awesome! Napoletano makes it sound even more badass. But names don’t have much to do with it, what you do with your name makes all the difference, may I have another? 🙂

  • Hey, do I get a prize if already know your #followfriday guest?

Or let me guess what you’re going to say, Gini… Knowing Adam and being in the presence of his wisdom is already prize enough. You could be right, because he knows things that I only read about – which is probably read his blog so much. I’m pumped to be part of the Social Media Sun community.. Even if don’t know how to add the code to show of my badge on my site and get tracked. Congrats Adam! Gini sure has been on a roll with her #ff nominees the last two weeks!!

    • ginidietrich

@SociallyGenius Wow. I didn’t even have to respond to this one. Thanks for doing my work for me!

      •  @ginidietrich  @SociallyGenius Tony you do know Adam is cheating on you with Wonder Woman aka Ms Gini right? So you can be honest. He is no super hero. In fact he prefers Blimpies to Subway. And sweet white wine to complex reds. Oh and he farms all the SEO work to a sweatshop in Greenland. 8)

  • I don’t say “dang” but I do say “so smart.” so close enough. 🙂

    •  @Lisa Gerber I’m adding this as a mental note right now. “Always make sure that if I quote Lisa Gerber, to do so in a verbatim manner, no dang” 🙂 I actually was smart when I was younger, but now I capitalize on any residual intelligence by down playing my stupidity lol, Plus I’m like a big mud puddle, wide and shallow. That’s great when you do a little bit of everything and want to get your ankles wet, but there’s a lot more to be said about people who are a well of knowledge, focused in one spot, but deep enough to draw pure water! It’s still a nice compliment coming from someone as smart as you are Lisa, so I’ll take it! In small doses anyway.

      •  @Lisa Gerber or, I could start quoting you daily and add dang to every single one lol. Joking though, Life Lesson #87 – Never mis quote the Editor!

        • ginidietrich

@etelligence  @Lisa Gerber I think you should definitely quote her as saying dang.
