#FollowFriday: Lindsay Bell

You’re in for a treat today!

Lindsay Bell is one of a kind and you’re about to learn why.

I first got to know Lindsay when she was working with Radian6. As you probably know, their community is everywhere and they do a fantastic job of spreading the word and adding value.

Lindsay is no different. She got to know me on Twitter, read the blog, and built a relationship in a way that is very human.

She is a former television producer – she worked at Canadian Broadcasting Corporation – so she’s had an entire career of building relationships with human beings. And she’s really, really good at it.

Top that with her ability to write and you have a PR professional’s dream. Heck, she’s a client’s dream.

Take, for instance, the blog post she wrote earlier this week about the things her dad says, including, “You can s**t  in one hand and wish in the other and see which one you fill first.”

We’ve talked a bit this week about storytelling and she does that brilliantly in this blog post (if you’re in need of storytelling help, read her blog!). She starts off by relaying her dad’s sayings, which are, in and of themselves, awesome. And then she goes on to applying those sayings she learned as a kid to business life. It’s a talent and one you can mirror if you read her carefully.

Hey Lindsay! They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. You don’t mind my telling people to mirror you, do you?

Lindsay is on the job hunt and is one of the best content creators I know. If you’re in need of a content creator or know someone who is, I suggest you give her a call (or tweet or Facebook message or Google+ circle or email). She knows how to determine what your audience wants and how to deliver it in the most valuable way.

And if you’re looking for someone exceptionally cool to know, check out her blog, follow her on Twitter, or circle her on Google+. YWRI.

It's a telling comment on today's society when @PeteTheTapeWorm gets more comments, likes and shares than I do. For shame, all of you. ;)

Great #FF @ginidietrich , and "hi" to my fellow Canadian @belllindsay . Formerly at CBC huh? My mom was GM of International Sales back in the day, my brother produced TV and radio (Gzowski's Morningside/ Avi Lewis counterspin) and I did colour commentary at Olympic Games for CBC. Wonder if our paths ever crossed:)

Best wishes on the job hunt: Will keep my eyes and ears peeled. And yes @skypulsemedia , we Canadians do things like return wallets...even Micky Mouse ones. I wonder if I can add Micky Mouse wallets as a +K? Mwahahahaha Cheers! Kaarina

I just realized @belllindsay is in Toronto. When I was 6 I lost my Mickey Mouse Wallet at the Toronto Zoo with 5 Canadian Dollars in it. I was hysterical. Then it happened.

Loudspeaker: Will the owner of the Mickey Mouse Wallet please come to the lost and found.

My parents took me there and guess what? The money was still in it. Now I grew up in NYC area. That stuff does not happen. I was blown away at the ethics people there had. Then of course they had no idea @Danny Brown was going to move there and bring his pool stealing dog. Or that @satisfeye would go into cahoots with @southsideadguy and start an advertising mafia.

But back then in 1973 it was still a nice safe city with friendly people.

Lindsay - Best of luck in the job hunt! The right thing will come at the right time! And you got some serious skill (from the little I saw) and you will be scooped up soon for sure!

Gini - thanks for another great intro! I checked out her blog and it's awesome! Just subscribed and looking forward to being a loyal reader!

@Brankica Another fave of my Dad's, along the same lines, was "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride." - Thanks dad! LOL

@TheJackB When my dad read the post (he's 75) all he said was "And I thought you never listened to a *word* I said! Wrong again!!!" - hahahaha

@KDillabough@skypulsemedia Good heaven's Kaarina, were you at the 25 John Street building? What a small world. I would have worked just down the hall from your brother also. Spoooky. ;) Oh, and I have to add, re: the Mickey Mouse wallet - I once had a bright yellow *huge* happy face watch - with a chunky brown leather strap that wouldn't be out of place on Queen West today! I loved that watch.

@HowieG You having a Mickey Mouse wallet is a nice tidbit that I will file away for later.

@HowieG@satisfeye@southsideadguy Today? Compton. And Rodeo Drive. All rolled into one. However, back in '88 when I was all goth/punked out, an American guy walking ahead of me outside the Eaton Center dropped 20 bucks. I caught up with him and gave it back. He couldn't believe A) that anyone who looked like me would do that and B) that anyone living in TO would do that. Little did he know that I am actually a Maritimer! :)

@C_Pappas Thank you so much. I'm a big believer in "things happen for a reason". Although I am now feeling like I better not suck not once not ever. Um, thanks Gini. ;)

@ginidietrich I get so annoyed with ppl who just send out lists of people w/no explanation. U know they just went thru & tweeted w/no thot!

ginidietrich

@TricmStrat It drives me nuts, too. I always just ignore those tweets...even when I'm included.
