What PR Firms are Missing: Ideas -
Gin and Topics: Dude Has Some Serious Moves
On April 15, my in-laws will have been married for 40 years.
Forty years. F-O-R-T-Y years.
And they’re still really young, which is a pro for having kids in your early 20s.
While the rest of you are celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, we will be with them celebrating this amazing accomplishment.
They’re the consummate couple, too. You know the one. The one where you think, “They make it look so easy!” The one that you hold your own marriage up to and hope you can be half as successful as them. That one.
It’s a huge deal. I’m very proud of them.
While I finish my day so I can be ready to see them, I’ll leave you with Gin and Topics.
Be ready. There is one that tops them all. You’ll know as soon as you see it.
Thanks to Dwayne Alicie, Mr. D., Mattie Dietrich, and my momma for their help this week!
5. The Paperless Future. This is a French commercial about going green and no longer using paper. Get to the end…trust me. It’s worth it.
4. The RagTime Gals. What do you get when you combine Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake, and a barbershop quartet? Freaking awesomesauce, that’s what!
3. Anne Hathaway’s Rap. With all the bad publicity Anne Hathaway has received lately, I thought it was time to win your adoration back. Oh Anne! We love you!
2. Knock, Knock. I don’t really know how to explain this other than, women are from Venus and men are from Mars.
1. Man in Beach Aerobics Class. The only thing I can about this without ruining it for you is, those people doing step aerobics without shoes on are going to screw up their feet! Okay that and … dude has some serious moves! That’s all I’m saying.
Have a great weekend everyone! Don’t drink too much green beer.

The Paperless Future had to be shared. Didn't know Hathaway had the broad musical talent of doing both musicals and rap.
And the man in the beach aerobics just scares me. We are headed to Cancun in June, and I'm traumatized before I get there!

@dbvickery Oh man! I really hope you see that guy in Cancun. That would make my entire year!

Brilliant line up. Loved Anne! Paparatzi BITCH! My wife's parents are creeping up on their 40th year of marriage to. We are with them in FLA right now. We were laughing because they seem so going that we forget they are in their mid 70's. We caught them holding hands and sneaking a kiss the other day. So damn cute. It's painful. :-)

@rdopping Do you still have to sneak a kiss when you're in your 70s?

@ginidietrich dunno. I'll letcha know when I get there.

@RebeccaTodd @ginidietrich Oh. THAT'S what you call it. Sassy, huh?
Latest blog post: QOTW 2013: Week 10: Do you think your advice will make things better?
@ginidietrich @rdopping Damn! Just because she is sick don't mean she ain't still sassy.
@rdopping You don't have much longer.

Great video roundup, Gini! Anne's rap was hysterical. I would never have dreamed she could sound so guttural. As for the step aerobics guy, I wish I had so much energy!

@WordsDoneWrite And she did it with such passion. I realize she's an actor and all, but I'm not sure I could do that.

We just got back from March Break in the Caribbean where they had Zumba on the beach every morning. There was NOTHING near as entertaining as the dude with the serious moves. My husband and kids HOWLED when I showed them. That guy may well have LED aerobics classes 80 or 100 pounds ago. What energy! I was concerned that it might end with a coronary.
As for JT - how talented do you have to be to reinterpret your own tune? He and Jimmy are so much fun. And Anne's rap - in your face paparazzi. Good for her showing her breadth of talent too.
Gin and Topics is always a highlight of my online week. Thanks for doing it so well!
@AlinaKelly Wasn't that great?! I've watched it at least five times and I howl every time, too. So freaking funny! I wish I were that carefree.

@ginidietrich The male of most species r cautious approaching the opposite sex........Hi?
If boys are looking for someone to emulate, it's JT. The guy is just so awesome. What a flipping talented dude. Excellent G&T this week Gini. Thank you!
@John_Trader1 Someone recently said all the girls have crushes on him and the term "man crush" was created for him.

I didn't know I was being filmed at the beach.......
Congrats to your in-laws; 40 is a big number. We just hit 30 and I know the work that had to go into that...:).

The paperless future is great and it summarizes perfectly the truth, imho, on the future of paper. We can't live without papaer and ebooks will never substitute real books, luckily. We can and should save paper but we will never stop using it. Not only in the bathroom I mean.
Fabulous. Happy weekend!

@Andrea T.H.W. Wasn't that funny? By-the-way, I quoted you in a podcast recording we do every week. I said you said the Roman Empire fell and so will Google.
@ginidietrich That's fabulous, thanks. It's such an honor, I really appreciate it Gini. You made my day. ;)

Anne Hathaway - I lived in LA the Paparazzi are a real pain in the behind. And there is no such thing as TOO much green beer. Happy St. Paddy's Day!!!
I'm not a big fan of his music, but what's great about Justin Timberlake is something that's an important lesson for any business and anybody in business: take your work seriously, but never take yourself too seriously.
@RobBiesenbach He's the kind of guy who seems like he'd be a ton of fun to be around, doesn't he?
@ginidietrich I would think so. Joey Fatone and friends may disagree, though ...
@RobBiesenbach @ginidietrich Hey, we all become adults, but not many "grow up" the way JT did, especially considering his every move was watched and criticized. Gives my hope for my Beibs.
@sydcon_mktg @ginidietrich Hilarious. Jimmy and Justin have way to much fun together.
@ginidietrich @sydcon_mktg I saw it. Jimmy seemed a little uncomfortable with her.
@ginidietrich This might be the best collection of videos to end a week on. Thanks for sharing!
@ginidietrich The kid joke was totally worth it. How funny! The TP one was pretty great too.
Congrats on the "inlawversary!."
I love the dancing guy on the beach. Dancing with abandon is super fun to watch. Go, dude, go.
Have a great weekend. I have my first bookstore book signing tomorrow (Barnes & Noble) so this will be an interesting weekend. :-0

The guy is getting a serious workout! I doubt I could have kept up! LOL And the little girl.....? That's you at age 8, isn't it Gini!! hahahaha
I'm all giggly after watching the moves of the guy in the teeny weeny bikini in the last clip. LOVE his attitude! My dad always used to say, "If you've got it, flaunt it!" And he sure does.

@allenmireles I'm impressed with people who have no self-consciousness. It's something we could all learn.
@ginidietrich @allenmireles @KenMueller Agreed! As long as we all walk around with the idea that in fact "perfection" will ever exist in a human, we will carry this shame about our own humanity. Dude showed a happy fun spirit and complete ease in his own skin. To me, sexy isn't about looks, it is about confidence. Which this guy totally has. I'd have bought him a drink fo shizzle.
@allenmireles I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure that when your dad said, "If you've got it", THAT was NOT what he meant by IT. THAT should NEVER be flaunted.

@KenMueller But Ken, that's exactly what he DID mean. But sarcastically. He used to laugh and laugh at silliness like this.
