Gin and TopicsBy Gini Dietrich

Phew! What a crazy fun week!

The Spin Sucks brand ambassadors have been out in full force!

We were joking in our staff meeting the other day that they’re so active on the social networks, all of our Facebook streams are only Spin Sucks book stuff.

Which is very, very cool!

I can’t wait to write the case study and share it with all of you. In the next week or so…after we have final numbers.

In the meantime, I present you with Gin and Topics.

This week’s videos are courtesy of my momma (she looooves Hugh Jackman; maybe even more than she loved Jon Stockton back in the day), Abbie Fink, Jeannie Walters, Alina Kelly, and yours truly.

5. Best Shift Ever. An organization called Break is doing Prank it Forward, a campaign to give back to the community, to individuals, and to those who deserve a break. In this episode, a waitress had the best shift ever. I watched it and blubbered like a baby. I’m sorry. You will, too.

4. Wolverine the Musical. If you loved Hugh Jackman in Les Mis or loved him as Wolverine, you will love him singing “Who Am I?” from the musical about his stint as a wolf. I’m glad he addressed his muscles in this song because I was pretty sure, after watching Wolverine 2, he had to have taken something to get a body like that. Apparently he just gave up junk food. I don’t eat junk food and my abs don’t look like that, but okaaaay.

3. Baby Reveal Gone Wrong. This poor little boy just wanted a baby brother. Is that too much to ask? Here’s what happens when he cuts into the cake and sees pink.

2. Hipsters Love Coffee. This is funny because it’s true! Hipsters order coffee, ask for a free pass to hang out all day, want to save the environment, and get a Columbian. And then the blond sorority girls show up asking for a pumpkin spice latter. Hilarious!

1. Seven Day Forecast. The other day, Heidi Massey posted a photo on Facebook that shows it’s going to be 70 degrees in Chicago on April 10. Considering that was more than 10 days away, I was dubious. Then I watched this video and now know meteorologists tell us these things to keep us from killing ourselves.

Have a great weekend!

  • OMG Rick Mercer!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA! I’m so proud!!! He’s the best, a Canadian icon, and such a super nice guy. I have to share this one – one of my all time favourites of his rants. 🙂

  • HeidiMassey

Hahahahahaha!!! 7 day forecast!!! Gosh, I hope that’s not all true! April 10th…holding out for April 10th! Gonna go check the extended forecast again on my phone. Pray for good news!

(Though I must say, I do find it hysterical that even gini  has had enough of winter.

  • I want them to Prank It Forward at the all-nite diner I’ve been working at…

  • HeidiMassey You know it’s been a rough winter when I’m tired of it. I just want to ride my bike! Also, April 10 on my weather app says 54 degrees.

  • barrettrossie  I feel like I want to have some French fries at the all-nite diner.

  • HeidiMassey

ginidietrich You and me both! I had one ride recently and thought I was going to explode from joy.

Let’s stick with my weather app. Says 63 degrees on April 10th.

I went to a coffee place a couple weeks ago that had no menu. None. Oh the pressure of wondering if I was going to get sneered at for ordering a latte! (It’s a hard knocks life, right? Dealing with Hipster Pressure?)
And the prank it forward one is definitely sniffle-inducing, especially when she sees her first teacher. I imagine it took her a bit to realize it was all real!

  • These are great.
aw! the poor kid. I just want to give him a big hug. ginidietrich love Hugh Jackman too. Would your mom be jealous to know that I got to meet him and Daniel Craig after watching their broadway performance of A Steady Rain?  We also happened to go on a “special night” where they were raising funds for something after the show by auctioning the shirts off their bodies. That was fun but too bad I didn’t have $5,000 to donate 🙂

  • KateNolan  You don’t seem to have an issue selecting an alcoholic beverage without a menu 😉

  • Hugh is a great sport, I feel sorry for the kid, I’d leave home as well. I hope an invitation was extended to Rick M. to join us at the Pilot on Monday night.

    Have an awesome weekend everyone!

  • Digital_DRK Another banner week for G&T! So happy for that waitress. Couldn’t help smiling at Hugh Jackman having so much fun. The weather one cracked me up — seeing as how I have so much fun on twitter with my weather people. The coffee? OMG at the ashes and breast milk. Lastly …..y’all don’t kick me out for being curmudgeonly but although the gender reveal is funny (and they’ll probably play it for him at his sister’s wedding in 25 yers) ….. is anyone else as conflicted as me about the over the top things of this nature (not this one … it was just a pink cake) but Pinterest will yield an entire array of fancy gender reveal options; Bill & Giuliana had one with a fancy Hollywood party planner, etc. What ever happened to either not knowing or just being quietly thrilled when the technician/doctor told you what you were having? Sorry — will try to revert to my usual OptiHappyPlace again. 🙂

  • KateNolan

Digital_DRK Oh, that is definitely an area where I have no problems deciding!
