Andy Crestodina InquisitionBy Gini Dietrich

As many of you well know, Andy Crestodina is one of my most favorite people on earth.

He’s smart, he’s funny, he’s creative (watch the video to see what I mean), and he is one of the kindest people on earth.

One of my favorite Andy stories (I mean, other than my beating him at Dance Dance Revolution) is that he had dinner with some friends and me for my birthday last year.

Because I went from house to cab to restaurant, I wasn’t bundled up for February in Chicago. But we ended up waiting outside for a few minutes for a cab after dinner.

He gave me his hat and gloves to wear. I mean, the gloves were gigantic on me, but I wore them while he froze his little fingers off.

He’s a really good friend and I’m excited to have him on video for the Spin Sucks Inquisition.

The Spin Sucks Inquisition

Here are the questions I asked him:

  • Tell us who you are and what you do.
  • What is the biggest mistake you’ve made in the past six months?
  • What is one of the biggest trends you’ll be using this year?
  • What is one thing about yourself that would surprise most people?
  • What is the best book you’ve read in the last six months?
  • What is your latest Netflix binge?
  • Surprise feature
  • Where can people find you online?

If you can’t watch the video below, you can find it by clicking here.

Where You Can Find Andy Crestodina

If you aren’t already following Andy, he’s a must. In fact, I told my team just yesterday if they’re not already subscribed to his newsletter, it’s grounds for dismissal.

Because I can’t fire any of you, I’ll just highly recommend you check out all the work he does.

You can find him on:

Now the floor is yours.

  • BRB I need to scurry over to LinkedIn to endorse Andy for his 5 second rule victor skills.

    • Rude!! BTW, today is Friday.

Sent from my iPhone, which I’ve named George II.

      • LOL!!!!!

      • Oh sure, in YOUR universe it’s Friday!

      • When will George II get his own account? 😉

        • Never. I can’t handle all his personalities.

          • Poor, neglected George II.

          • Poor, neglected George, my butt. He does sleep with me, after all.

I love how Gini looks like she is in Florida and Andy looks like he is in Minsk during a blizzard.

    • howiegoldfarb

You need an intro song or jingle. Working on it the lyrics.

      • Are you writing the lyrics for me?

        • howiegoldfarb

Yes. Going to be a huge hit, bigger than Barney Miller just need to get someone to write the music.

  • I’m hibernating in Minsk. Wake up, Andy! I look so sleepy…

    • How do you know that’s not the case?

      • howiegoldfarb

Hot dog over dose + coma

    • howiegoldfarb

DDR? Never would of suspected the inner boy bander in you. I knew Gini has an inner boy band.

  • Jason Konopinski

    Indeed, one of my favoritest!

  • You can’t name three love songs in five seconds Gini? That makes me sad.

    • howiegoldfarb

      Lola, Layla, and Crazy Train.

      • All I could come up with were songs from Frozen. And I knew those wouldn’t work.

    • Try doing it under pressure!

  • I have serious work to do and I got completely sucked into this!! I really want to be there for the DDR rematch! Damn I learn from you people. But don’t make me admit it.

  • Oh… where to begin…

    First, hi, Andy!

Second, yes, everyone here should subscribe to Andy’s newsletter.

  • In my ongoing effort to improve Spin Sucks’ video… 🙂

-Gini… framing, perfect. You’ve been doing much better with this. Now, you should invest in an inexpensive lapel microphone for your computer so you have better audio. Your computer mic makes you sound hollow.
Also, I assume your eyes are on the live feed window that shows your interview subject, and that’s why you’re looking down and to your left? Move the window with your interview subject to the top middle of your screen, right under the camera lens. It will appear to the viewer that you’re looking into the lens, which is a better looking shot.

-Laura… you’re not off the hook either. Please raise your computer so that your camera is at eye-level or slightly higher (or drop your seat lower). If you can see the crack where the wall meets the ceiling in the shot, then your camera lens is too low. Also, make sure there is a light (or window) in back of your computer so that your computer is not the light source illuminating your face. Need an example? Check out this blog post by a pretty reputable PR blog I contributed to: 🙂

-Andy… pretty darn good. Maybe a little less headroom at the top of your shot. The headset… I can live with because it provides good audio. If you want to make interviews like these even more professional from your end, like Gini, you could invest in an inexpensive lapel microphone.
Oh yeah… and the keynote thing… HOLY COW… congrats!

    –Tony Gnau

    • This is why we love you Tony!! Thank you! It’s funny, when I watched this I thought “man, I need to prop my computer up…Tony would cringe at this….so see, I do listen!

I’ll try to make you proud next round!

    • Raises hand: What entry-level lapel microphone do you recommend?

      Please and thank you. 🙂

  • This was more fun than a Netflix binge. Andy, your papier mâché is incredible and now we’ll all think of you as the creative analytics guy. 😉

BTW, I’m loving how Postmatic has evolved over the past week and we can see each other again.

    Happy Friday!

  • Hey Andy. Great to see you on the hot seat. That was a hilarious inquisition!
I want to see a rematch!

  • OMG the first part cracked me up. Yes Andy, I AM freaking out 😉 No, you’ll do amazing!

    • Oh, and I’m wrong on all my content marketing predictions.

      • I told you I was making fun of him! I’m serious…I’m going to make him practice for me and boo him off stage. That’ll just make it better for all of us.
