Rumor had it that one U.S. Presidential hopeful was planning to announce his candidacy on the Oprah Winfrey Show.  He surprised us all, however, by breaking the news on his own Web site.  One of his steadfast opponents also chose the Internet as her media of choice, while last night Sen. John McCain announced his White House bid on the David Letterman Show.

    So who is to blame for the mud slinging nature of polital discourse in this counrty? The politicians themsleves or their handlers?

    I say talking heads and other public figures are to blame. They’re the ones continuing negative dialogue and contributing little of substance to the conversation.

    Politicians have to take full responsibility for what they say, regardless of who advised them to say it. After all, it’s them we have elected – not their “handlers”. We also need to let the Ann Coulters of the world know we’re not interested in their brand of politicking.
