Client service is like a love affair.
There are the good times when you frolic down tulip-lined, cobblestone pathways together.
Virtually skipping in harmony to a sappy love song.
There are the difficult times when you work through problems and overcome obstacles.
All while finding the struggle brings you closer together.
And then there are the bad times.
When you don’t see eye-to-eye, and your relationship status is very clearly listed as “it’s complicated.”
For those who love client service, the highs are worth the lows.
The relationship IS the center point of what you do and you love partnering with your clients to journey toward success.
Client Service: The Musical
But love it or hate it, one thing can be said about client service: Sometimes words just aren’t enough.
I’ve often told our team I wish I had an autoresponder that looked like this:
And I could just press a command key on my computer and have it automatically sent to the client.
Where are you when I need you, Jerry?
And then there are times I wish I could just sing them a song.
Musically express my feelings.
I figured others who spend a good part of their day working with clients might feel the same way.
(Or maybe not, but generally people seem to realize it’s easier just to play along with my lunacy now….so it works for me.)
So I did what any legit market researcher would do: Turned to Facebook and the PR Dream Team brain trust.
The results have come together in one amazing Spotify playlist.
The Client Mambo
Ladies and gentlemen, I’m very excited to present to you, the client mambo…
Names Have Been Changed to Protect the Innocent
Originally, I was going to tag all the creators of this work of playlist magic, along with their chosen songs.
But then it came to my attention these songs might not reflect well on us purveyors of client service.
Especially because a lot of it is angry gansta rap.
As one participant, we’ll call her Thugella, aptly said:
You aren’t actually going to quote me in your songs to clients blog post are you? Because saying I want to shoot them and take their money will probably get me fired.
Fair point.
Therefore this list will remain anonymous.
You’ll see as you peruse, the songs really do display the entire spectrum client service: Good, bad, conflicted.
But most of all, it’s a great compilation of music nd just a lot of fun.
So put on some tunes, sit back, relax, and perhaps next time you deal with a difficult client, you’ll suggest a meeting over karaoke.
