Yes, that is Mimi Meredith sitting outside my hotel room, on her laptop, patiently waiting for me to arrive (it took me at least an hour to walk from the ballroom to my room; there may have been a stop in the lobby bar for some bubbly).
I met Mimi virtually (big surprise) and then she called me one day, out of the blue, because she was considering joining Vistage and wanted to get my thoughts on the organization.
We became fast friends and swore to find reasons to visit one another.
And then we finally met! In May in Vegas at Counselor’s Academy.
It was like meeting my long-lost sister. You know the one who is the more patient, more kind version of me. I mean, she wasn’t at all mad that she had to wait on me. Look at that smile!
Mimi is a PR professional who hung up her hat to consult leaders, something she’s really good at. She claims it’s because she’s married to an attorney who has taught her to think and debate (it’s not).
She is the author of Blooming Where You’re Planted (a real book that was published waaaaay before everyone and all of their family members were getting book deals) and blogger of The Goodness Grows.
She is a graduate of the University of Kansas, which makes Mr. D a HUGE fan of hers (and, for that matter, Shelly Kramer’s DH, too), but has slowly made her way west (who can blame her?). With family in Montana (she still spends a lot of time there with her dad) and her husband and kids in Arizona, she kind of has the life.
But, no matter where you went to school (unless it was Mizzou), how jealous you are of where she lives, or how you feel about PR pros (you’d better like us!), you’ll get a lot from following Mimi, subscribing to and reading her blog, connecting with her on LinkedIn, and plain old interacting with her.
