Last week’s #FollowFriday was a readers’ choice and I am going to compile a folder so you can subscribe to the recommendations all at once (coming next week – it was more work than I expected). But, this week we’re back to our normal #FollowFriday.
I first met Shonali Burke, heck, now I don’t remember. I think it was during Danny Brown’s, Grant Griffiths’s and John Haydon’s Start Blogging Today Twitter chat. I’ve gotten to know her better through Twitter, Facebook, on her blog, and during PRapalooza, a fun podcast she, Danny, and I did with Joe Hackman a couple of weeks ago. She is the real deal.
So, without further ado, today’s #FollowFriday is Shonali Burke.
I should have run into Shonali much earlier in my career because she’s active in IABC and is one of the communication industry’s consummate professionals.
Blogging at Waxing Unlyrical, at BNET and at Network Solutions, she commands a presence of the English language that is becoming a lost art in our country. She also is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University. With experience on two continents, two coasts, big agencies, small agencies, corporate life, and non-profit, you’d guess her to be 100 years old. But she’s not! She began working when she was 10.
She is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, plus she has a beautiful accent. You have to get her on the phone just to hear it!
While she runs about a gazillion events every week and runs her own communication practice, she always has time to help, to answer questions, and to learn more about you as a person.
I recommend following her on Twitter, checking out her website, subscribing to Waxing Unlyrical, and finding a way to hear that gorgeous lilt! She’s already promised to make me real, homemade, authentic Indian food next time I’m in D.C. But I get it first – don’t you dare try!
